Man shot, killed on Route 394 in south suburbs

State police say the shooting happened Monday evening at Glenwood-Dyer Road.

A 30-year-old man was shot and killed Monday evening on Illinois Route 394 in the south suburbs.

State troopers were called about 8:20 p.m. to a shooting at Glenwood-Dyer Road, according to a statement from Illinois State Police.

A man was fatally shot, but three other people in the car were uninjured, state police said.

The man was identified as Arnell Lowery of Joliet, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. His death was ruled a homicide.

State police shut down all lanes of the expressway until nearly 2 a.m. for an investigation.
