Man fatally shot in West Garfield Park

The 66-year-old was walking about 7:50 a.m. in the 4600 block of West Van Buren Street when a white van pulled up and someone inside opened fire, Chicago police said.

A 66-year-old man was killed in a shooting Tuesday morning in West Garfield Park.

Leon Allen was walking about 7:50 a.m. in the 4600 block of West Van Buren Street when a white van pulled up and someone inside opened fire, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Area Four detectives are investigating.
