Woman killed in Lawndale shooting

The woman was shot in her head in an apartment Monday afternoon the 1200 block of South Kolin Avenue, police say.

A woman was shot and killed Monday afternoon in Lawndale on the West Side.

Rachel D. Harris, 35, was shot in her head in an apartment around 1:30 p.m. in the 1200 block of South Kolin Avenue, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

She was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and pronounced dead, police said. It’s unclear what led up to the shooting.

Two people were taken in for questioning, police said, but were later released without charges.
