A man was fatally shot by a masked gunman in Woodlawn on the South Side early Wednesday.

Daniel Gardner, 28, was standing in the 6200 block of South Eberhart Avenue when a man wearing a ski-mask approached and fired shots about 1:05 a.m., Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s said.

He was struck in the neck and shoulder and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

No one was in custody.
