Man killed, woman wounded in drive-by in Gresham

About 1 a.m., the man and woman, 19 and 20, were driving a vehicle in the 8300 block of South Damen Avenue, when someone inside a passing SUV fired shots at them.

A man was killed and a woman was wounded in a drive-by Tuesday morning in Gresham on the South Side.

About 1 a.m., the man and woman, 19 and 20, were driving in the 8300 block of South Damen Avenue when someone inside a passing SUV fired shots at them, Chicago police said.

The man was struck in the face and chest, while the woman was struck in the leg, police said.

The man, identified as Jalen Harris, was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he died hours later, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived in South Holland.

The woman was taken to the same hospital in good condition, police said.

Area Two detectives are investigating.
