An 18-year-old man has been charged with carjacking a ride-hailing driver in December in the Brainerd neighborhood on the South Side.
Cornelius Carr, of Lawndale, faces a felony count of vehicular hijacking and a felony count of armed robbery, Chicago police said.
Police identified him as the person who carjacked a 28-year-old ride-hailing driver Dec. 22 in the 1100 block of West 95th Street. Carr was arrested Monday in the 1300 block of South Avers Avenue.
He is due in bond court Tuesday.
In January, police Supt. David Brown revealed a plan to address the rise in carjackings, which have more than doubled in the past year.
