Businesses burglarized in Jefferson Park, Mayfair: police

In each incident, the burglars cut through a fence or broke locks to get inside and made off with sewer inspection equipment and other tools, Chicago police said.

A man accused of stealing a funeral home van with a body inside was arrested in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Burglaries were reported Feb. 23 and Feb. 26, 2021, on the Northwest Side.

Police are warning business owners on the Northwest Side of a string of burglaries reported in recent weeks in Jefferson Park and Mayfair.

In each incident, the burglars cut through a fence or broke locks to get inside and made off with sewer inspection equipment and other tools, Chicago police said.

A burglary was reported about midnight Feb. 23 in the 4700 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, police said.

Another happened at 2:20 a.m. Feb. 26 in the 4500 block of North Elston Avenue, police said. The third took place 10 minutes later in the 5200 block of North Elston.

The suspects were described as four to five males wearing dark clothing.
