A 31-year-old man was fatally shot Tuesday in northwest Indiana.

Aaron Hawkins was shot in the 2100 block of Vermont Street in Gary, Indiana, according to the Lake County coroner’s office. He was pronounced dead at 5:20 p.m.

He lived in suburban Chicago Heights, the coroner’s office said. An autopsy ruled his death a homicide.

Gary police didn’t immediately release details.
