Authorities were conducting an arson investigation after a fire broke out Tuesday in the Grand Crossing neighborhood, according to Chicago police.

The fire erupted about 2 a.m. in the 7500 block of South Dobson Avenue, according to preliminary information from police spokeswoman Karie James.

There were no reported injuries, James said.

It appeared that someone had poured something and then lit it, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation.
