Homan Square man charged in fatal Austin shooting

Calvin Jones has been charged with murder in the death of Pierre Romell Anderson.

A 28-year-old man has been charged with a fatal shooting Feb. 17, 2021, in the 5900 block of West Bloomingdale Avenue.

A 28-year-old man was charged in a fatal shooting in February in Austin on the West Side.

Calvin Jones, of Homan Square, was charged with first-degree murder in the Feb. 14 shooting of 37-year-old Pierre Romell Anderson, Chicago police said.

Officers found Anderson lying on the ground about 12:20 a.m. in the 5900 block of West Bloomingdale Avenue with a gunshot wound to the chest, police said. He died Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.

Jones was arrested Tuesday in the 900 block of North Monticello Avenue, after he was identified as a person connected to the shooting, police said.

He was expected in bond court Thursday.
