Alsip woman stabbed to death at Courtyard by Marriott Hotel near Midway Airport

Melissa Roon, 27, was stabbed multiple times about 10:35 p.m. Sunday at the hotel at 6610 S. Cicero Ave., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

An Alsip woman was stabbed to death Sunday at the Courtyard by Marriott hotel in Bedford Park near Midway Airport.

Melissa Roon, 27, was found unresponsive with multiple stab wounds about 10:35 p.m. at the hotel, 6610 S. Cicero Ave., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

An autopsy ruled her death a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said.

Bedford Park police offered few details but said they believe the stabbing to be an isolated incident, and said there does not appear to be danger to the general public.

Marriott officials did not respond to a request for comment.

The incident is under investigation by the Bedford Park Police Department and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force.
