A man was shot and killed Friday morning while sitting in a parked vehicle in South Shore.
About 4:45 a.m., the man was parked in the 7600 block of South Exchange Avenue when a male reached into his vehicle and shot him three times in the chest following an exchange, Chicago police said.
He was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he later died, police said.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified him as 30-year-old Shami Cox. An autopsy conducted Saturday ruled his death a homicide.
The shooter fled on foot and has not yet been located, according to police. He is described as 5-foot-10 to 6-foot-3 and 200 to 225 pounds with a beard, police said.
Area Two detectives are investigating.
