Man dies days after Gresham shooting

A man died days after he was wounded in a shooting in Gresham on the South Side.

James Roberson was sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle that was traveling east about 4 a.m. last Saturday in the 300 block of West 87th Street when the rear window shattered, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

A bullet struck Roberson, 26, in the back of the head and he was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, police said.

He died of his injuries Wednesday.

No one was in custody as Area Two detectives investigate.
