Man fatally shot in Roseland

He was on the sidewalk about 6:20 p.m. in the 11000 block of South Vernon Avenue when a light-colored vehicle pulled up and someone inside unleashed gunfire, Chicago police said.

Joshua Stokes, 18, was found shot to death on in Austin.

A man was killed in a shooting Friday in Roseland on the South Side.

Christopher S. Williams, 39, was on the sidewalk about 6:20 p.m. in the 11000 block of South Vernon Avenue when a light-colored vehicle pulled up and someone inside unleashed gunfire, Chicago police said.

He was struck in the chest and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Police reported no arrest.
