Man killed in Lawndale shooting

The 26-year-old was standing near the back of his vehicle about 10:41 a.m. in the 2400 block of West Polk Street when someone opened fire, striking him in the chest, Chicago police said.

A Chicago police officer was shot Oct. 18, 2021, in Lincoln Park.

A man was shot dead Aug. 20, 2021, in Lawndale.

A man was fatally shot Friday morning in Lawndale on the West Side.

The 26-year-old was standing near the back of his vehicle about 10:40 a.m. in the 2400 block of West Polk Street when someone opened fire, striking him in the chest, Chicago police said.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. His identity has not been released.

Area Four detectives are investigating.
