Man killed in Back of the Yards shooting

He was on the street about 6:40 p.m. in the 4700 block of South Wolcott Avenue when someone approached him and opened fire, Chicago Police said.

A man was fatally shot Saturday on the South Side.

A 19-year-old man was shot Saturday in Back of the Yards on the South Side.

He was on the street about 6:40 p.m. in the 4700 block of South Wolcott Avenue when someone approached him and opened fire, Chicago police said.

He was shot in the chest and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he later died, police said. He was identified as Israel L. Luna by the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Area One detectives are investigating.
