A man was fatally shot Monday night in Brainerd on the South Side.

Donte Higgins, 29, was buying a part for his car about 8 p.m. in the 1400 block of West 95th Street when two people approached and fired shots, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

He was hit twice in the chest and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead, officials said.

No one was in custody.
