Man shot and killed in South Austin

The man, 20, was standing in the street in the 5200 block of West Van Buren Street when someone in a white sedan opened fire, striking him in the neck and back, police said.

A man was shot and killed Sunday night in South Austin on the West Side.

Tajhuan Dowd, 20, was standing in the street in the 5200 block of West Van Buren Street when someone in a white sedan opened fire about 11:15 p.m., striking him in the neck and back, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

He was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital, officials said.

No one was in custody.
