7-year-old boy found safe, day after police say he was abducted by armed mother on Near West Side

A 7-year-old boy was found safe Thursday afternoon, a day after police say he was abducted by his mother on the Near West Side.

The boy had been taken around 4 p.m. Wednesday from the 1300 block of South Damen Avenue.

Chicago police released no details on how the boy was found or whether the mother would face charges.

Police had said the mother was armed when she took the boy.
