Hester named special teams player of the week

Pro Bowl returner Devin Hester was named the NFC’s special teams player of the week for the fourth time this season and the seventh time in his career after a 64-yard punt return for a touchdown vs. New Orleans.

It marked the sixth return score of the season, an NFL single-season record.

Hester also scored a touchdown on a 55-yard reception from Kyle Orton.

That’s the next big thing for him, to see how he can develop as a receiver with another offseason dedicated to the transition. His emergence, among other factors, does not bode well for a return of Bernard Berrian, who becomes a restricted free agent March 1.
