Sidetracked can be a good thing.

I was bumming around trying to find some good photos of doves and sunflowers. When I was trying to get arty-farty with this sunflower, I spotted a bee on it.

And liked it.

When I downloaded the photo, I realized I had a bee and sunllower shot from last year in August. But it was from Aug. 8, 2008, more than two weeks earlier and that sunflower was far drier than this one.

That’s one thing that will impact opening day for hunting doves around the Chicago area. The wet spring and summer means sunflowers are about 10 days to two weeks behind.
