CROWLEY: I — I wonder, when you look around, if you ever thought, hmmm, four more years, 2016.
WASHINGTON–Vice President Biden did not rule out running for president himself in 2016 when asked about the possibility by CNN’s Candy Crowley. Biden made his remarks on her Sunday show, “State of the Union.”
Biden ran twice–for a time he was a 2008 Obama rival in the Democratic primary–and Crowley asked him about a third run.
“My one focus now is getting the president reelected. That is the focus. And I’ll make up my mind on that later. I — I’m — I’m in a one of the — probably the best shape I’ve been in my life. I’m doing pretty well. I’m enjoying what I’m doing. And as long as I do, I’m going to continue to do it. And we’ll find out, you know, let’s get the president reelected,” Biden said.
More on the conversation…..
But it’s a possibility? You’re not closing that door?
BIDEN: I’m not closing anything.
CROWLEY: Do you ever look around, when you’re in one of these meetings, when big things are being done and you think, I — I’d have been good at this job?
BIDEN: Well, I wouldn’t have run for president in the first place. And I don’t think the president would have picked me unless he thought I’d be good at the job. But my job now is — and will be and remains vice president of the United States. And we’ve got the order right — President Obama, Vice President Biden.
