Flooding on Illinois River closes some riverfront facilities at Starved Rock State Park UTICA, IL – The Illinois Department of Natural Resources today announced that some riverfront facilities at Starved Rock State Park in La Salle County are closed for the Memorial Day holiday weekend due to flooding on the Illinois River. The flooding has prompted site staff to close Starved Rock’s ‘Lower River Area’ including the Illinois River boat access ramp, picnic area and riverside parking lot. Other park facilities – including the Starved Rock Lodge, the bluff-top parking lot adjacent to the lodge, the park campground, scenic trails and the Starved Rock Visitor Center – are open to park visitors.
