Healthy Morin can't wait for training camp

One player in particular who can’t wait for training camp to start is Jeremy Morin.

The 20-year-old winger missed the remainder of last season with the Rockford Icehogs after he suffered what is believed to have been a concussion on Jan. 15, but has officially been called an “upper body” injury by Morin and the Blackhawks.

“It was kind of a weird play. I just got flipped over someone’s back and landed awkwardly,” Morin said. “But it’s all good now.”

For a young player who hadn’t missed more than a few games in a row due to injury, being out of action for more than three months was especially worrying.

“I had never had an injury like that, I never had missed more than two games in a row before,” Morin said. “It was different for me because it was one of those things that takes a while to heal, so I just waited it out.”

Morin impressed the Hawks, recording two goals and an assist in nine games with the last season. But other prospects, notably Ben Smith and Marcus Kruger, may have passed him up on the depth chart as he recovered.

“I didn’t want to rush back because it’s a scary thing to be injured like that and I just wanted to be a 100 percent healed up,” said Morin, who had eight goals and four assists in 22 games for Rockford.
