"Everglades of the North": Debuts today

I strongly urge watching the debut of “Everglades of the North: The Story of the Grand Kankakee Marsh” at 8 p.m. today on WYIN, the presenting public television station in Merrilleville, Ind.

I had a chance to take my wife to see the premier of it last night at Lowell High School in Indiana. Very impressive, both the documentary and the broad base of support the creators built among sportsmen, conservationists and community leaders.

It is a piece of work we need as a reminder of what once was and a kick to help us get to what could be along the Kankakee River, that great resource of Chicago outdoors; no, make that American outdoors.

WYIN is 21 on my Comcast.

Kathy French messaged on Facebook that is WYIN is 8502 on Dish.
