Five-month-old twins Giselle (left) and Julian Romero were found dead at their Southwest Side home Thursday, May 10, 2012.

Autopsies were inconclusive Friday on 5-month-old twins found dead in a crib in their Little Village home Thursday.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office is still investigating the deaths of Julian and Giselle Romero.

The twin infants, a boy and girl, were found unresponsive in their home in the 4100 block of West 25th Street Thursday morning.

The Illinois Department of Children & Family Services is investigating allegations of neglect against the mother and father over the twins’ deaths, spokesman Jimmie Whitelow said Thursday.

DCFS took the Romeros’ four other children into protective custody Thursday evening, spokesman Kendall Marlowe said Friday.

Josue Romero said that his wife discovered the lifeless twins – born Nov. 17 – in a crib they shared in the living room about 8:30 a.m. Thursday.
