Ellen DeGeneres produces another gay sitcom

Openly gay actress, comic, TV talk show host and producer Ellen DeGeneres has teamed up with fellow lesbian, writer Liz Feldman (“2 Broke Girls”), to create a sitcom for NBC — with a lesbian character in the lead.

Daleline.com reports the as-yet-untitled proposed series will focus on a gay woman who gets pregnant — thanks to her straight male best pal, just as he meets and weds his the woman of his dreams.

Feldman and DeGeneres have long been professional associates. Feldman worked for two years on “Ellen” and wrote for the entertainer for her first hosting gig on the Academy Awards — which DeGeneres will again host March 2.

†Broadcasting gay-themed comedies are nothing new for NBC. Along with the long-running “Will & Grace,” the peacock network more recently has aired “The New Normal,” and “Sean Saves the World,” starring “Will & Grace” Emmy winner and Glen Ellyn native Sean Hayes.

†DeGeneres herself went public with her sexuality 16 years ago, on her own self-titled ABC sitcom.
