Snowy owls: Southern Lake Michigan

Keep your eyes open if you happen to be on the lakefront in Illinois or northwest Indiana, snowy owls have been reported from Waukegan to the Port of Indiana.

Multiple reports have come on IBET (the Illinois birding list) and the Indiana birders list of snowy owls being seen: Waukegan, Rainbow Beach and 87th Street in Chicago (techinically the owls being seen are in Indiana waters) and the Port of Indiana.

If you happen to be fishing perch at the new spot at 87th, you might want to bring binoculars along and check along the breakwall of Cal Harbor.
