BREAKING: Federal judge rules: CPS schools can close

With less than two weeks before the first day of school, U.S. District Court Judge John Z. Lee ruled Thursday that he will not bar CPS from closing 49 elementary schools and a high school program on grounds that African American and disabled students’ rights will be violated.

It’s the last legal hurdle to closing the schools, or the last way for school supporters to keep them open.
