Is the 'Doctor' in? Will songwriter/producer Dr. Luke be new 'Idol' judge?

While no one from “American Idol” is commenting, there is buzz about songwriter and record producer Dr. Luke (real name: Lukasz Gottwald) as being in talks to join the judging panel for the upcoming 13th season of “Idol,” which launches in January.

The Dr. Luke news started circulating after it appeared the Black Eyes Peas’ Will.i.am ended his negotiations with “Idol” honchos — reportedly over money.

While not a “star” personality like returning judges Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez, Dr. Luke has a solid background. From his starts as a house band lead guitarist on “Saturday Night Live,” Dr. Luke went on work with a number of A-List stars, including Kelly Clarkson, Flo Rida, Ke$ha and Katy Perry.
