Bears injury updates: Earl Bennett, Henry Melton take in practice

Receiver Earl Bennett and defensive tackle Henry Melton didn’t take part in practice on Tuesday as they continue to recover from their concussions. But it can be perceived as a good sign that both were present, watching practice at Halas Hall.

Bennett and Melton didn’t attend the final practices of training camp in Bourbonnais. Melton was on the Olivet Nazarene campus, while Bennett was at home resting.

Neither was present during the portion of practice open to the media on Monday. Both players were with their position groups during the open period of practice on Tuesday.

In other injury news, offensive tackle Jonathan Scott remains sidelined. He recently had his right knee drained of fluids and his return is expected soon.

Linebacker D.J. Williams (right calf), defensive tackle Corvey Irvin (ankle), quarterback Matt Blanchard (left hand), running back Harvey Unga (ribs), defensive end Cheta Ozougwu (hamstring) and long snapper Patrick Mannelly (ribs).
