One of the suspects in the Oklahoma killing of Australian college baseball player Christopher Lane quoted Chief Keef on Twitter just days before the murder. 15-year-old James Edwards Jr. posted lyrics from the Chicago rapper’s most popular song, “I Don’t Like,” three days before the murder, and his last tweet was directed at Keef.

Chief Keef, real name Keith Cozart, has frequently taken heat for his violent lyrics and imagery amid Chicago’s gun violence. He was released from juvenile detention in March, charged with violating probation by holding a gun in a music video- a probation he received after pointing a weapon at police in December 2011.

Edwards is one of three Oklahoma teenagers being charged in the killing of Christopher Lane, a murder police have described as random. One of the suspects told police they were bored and killed Lane “for the fun of it.”

Chancey Allen Luna, 16, and James Francis Edwards Jr, 15, have been charged with first-degree murder and will be tried as adults under Oklahoma law. Michael Dewayne Jones, 17, was charged with using a vehicle in the discharge of a weapon and with accessory to first-degree murder after the fact.
