Staying true to his word to include more “strong women” in the revamped lineup of WGN-AM (720), hard-charging station honcho Jimmy de Castro has rubber-stamped a three-hour Sunday stint for Chicago-based comedienne Patti Vasquez.Vasquez has hosted Sunday night shifts since March, but now “The Patti Vasquez Show” (Sundays from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m.) is officially part of the WGN family. She’ll work with executive producer Craig Collins.

“Let’s see what kind of trouble we can get ourselves into,” Vasquez wrote Monday in announcing the news on Facebook.

Neither Vasquez nor de Castro could be reached for comment, but Vasquez’s longtime friend and WGN-AM’s new morning man, Steve Cochran, has nothing but high praise. He and Vasquez — whom he calls “strong, smart and funny” — have broadcast together for more than a decade now, with Vasquez doing guest shots on his shows — mostly at WGN.

“She has become a very quick study,” he says, “and is a great addition to Sunday nights.”
