Chicago native goes from Chinese pop star to co-star on 'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' (VIDEO)

Before she got Level 7 clearance to become a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, Chicago native Chloe Bennet did a stint as a pop princess in China.

Bennet, 21, whose real last name is Wang (her father is first-generation Chinese-American), moved to China at age 15 to pursue a music career. She lived there for two years and had a big hit with the song “Uh Oh,” which she performed in both English and Mandarin. (Check out the Mandarin version below.)

Bennet has a big role in the upcoming ABC sci-fi/action drama as a computer hacker named Skye. I don’t see a lot of reason for a computer hacker to sing in the show, but you never know. This is Joss Whedon, after all. Remember the musical Buffy episode “Once More, With Feeling?”
