Bears cut QB Jordan Palmer

Quarterback Jordan Palmer announced on his Twitter account that he has been cut by the Bears.

Palmer was the leading contender for the No. 3 quarterback spot if the Bears decided to keep three quarterbacks on the roster — he started Thursday night’s preseason finale and was 11-of-17 for 111 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions for a 102.8 passer rating. So his departure is a sign that the Bears will keep only two quarterbacks on their 53-man roster.

Said Palmer via Twitter: “I really appreciate all the kind words from the #Bears fans but I’m headed home today. Crazy biz but appreciative.”

Palmer was impressive enough that he surely will be in line for future employment by the Bears if something happens to current backup quarterback Josh McCown.
