BERKELEY, Calif.–Northwestern starting quarterback Kain Colter sustained an upper body injury in the Wildcats’ season opener at Cal, according to a university spokesman. His status will be re-evaluated at halftime.

Colter appeared to hurt his shoulder on the first scrimmage play of the game but stayed in for another play. He then was hit again and went off the field.

He went back into the locker room and returned shortly after to the Wildcats’ sideline.
