Coach Pat Fitzgerald and his players say that the national attention that team has been getting this preseason has done nothing to alter Northwestern’s internal expectations.
But it has had an impact on the school’s finances.
According to an athletic department spokesman, the team only has some 800 seasons tickets remaining. On Aug. 1 the university announced it had set a record for season tickets sold but did not release the exact number.
The Wildcats currently have ranked teams Ohio State and Michigan on their home schedule. Both games figure to be nationally significant.
