A Nintendo train will run on the Brown Line August 12 to honor the Year of Luigi

Nintendo has dubbed 2013 the Year of Luigi to honor the thirtieth anniversary of the debut of Mario’s brother in Mario Bros. To celebrate, Nintendo will be taking over the Brown Line on August 12. Because it’s the L, get it?

The “Luigi Line” will run a special train packed with Luigi iconography from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., gaming news site Polygon reports. The greener half of the Super Mario Brothers will also be appearing on the train.

The promotion comes just a few weeks before New Super Luigi U releases on the Wii U.

This also seems a good time to remind you of the excellent Super Mario themed L map by Chicago artist Robert Bacon that circulated the internet earlier this year.
