Leesman to start for White Sox Friday

Left-hander Charlie Leesman will start the second game of the White Sox day-night doubleheader against the Twins on Friday. Leesman, 26, will get called up from AAA Charlotte, where he is 3-1 with a 3.47 ERA.

Last season, Leesman was 12-10 with a 2.57 ERA. In the fall, he tore the ACL in his left knee.

“There was talk of having [right-hander Erik] Johnson doing it but he’s only been off the DL for two starts,” manager Robin Ventura said. “We get good reports on Charlie and let’s see what we got. We need another lefty.”

Ventura was joking about the lefty. The Sox have four lefties in their rotation with Danks, Chris Sale, Hector Santiago and Jose Quintana.
