The Bears suffered two key injuries in their preseason opener Friday night in Charlotte. Pro Bowl defensive tackle Henry Melton suffered a concussion early in the first quarter and was ruled out for the game. Nate Collins replaced Melton and had two tackles-for-loss.

Veteran long snapper Pat Mannelly suffered a rib injury when he was blocked hard on a punt and did not return. James Anderson replaced him as the team’s long snapper. Mannelly’s status is unknown.
