The Pixies released a new EP in the middle of the night

SHARE The Pixies released a new EP in the middle of the night

Iconic alt rockers the Pixies snuck out a new four track EP in the dead of night, just 12 days before their headlining slot at Riot Fest in Humboldt Park. It is the band’s first release since 1991, a year bookmarked by the fall of the Soviet Union and the release of “Father of the Bride.”

The band made a low-key announcement about the surprise EP on social media shortly after 1 a.m. CST and social media took care of it from there. It is immediately available as a digital download for $4. An $18 limited edition vinyl print is also available.

Noticeably missing from the EP is “Bagboy,” a song released in June that marked the first new Pixies material in nine years. That makes five new Pixies songs this summer, practically a third of an album!

This is probably the best music news that will come all week so you should probably listen to one of the new tracks below.

  2. Another Toe
  3. Indie Cindy
