Michael Jordan's college diploma up for auction

Michael Jordan’s name can sell anything—shoes, cologne, even underwear. Pretty much anything with MJ’s name on it will sell.

Well, how about his college diploma?

That’s right. Jordan’s diploma from the University of North Carolina is one of several items up for bid by Goldin Auctions beginning today. The Bulls great left UNC after his junior year in 1984 to enter the NBA draft. He went back in 1986 to finish his degree in cultural geography.

The auction house also has several of Jordan’s recruiting letters from then Tar Heels coach Dean Smith.

How did Goldin obtain Jordan’s personal items?

When a North Carolina restaurant owned by Jordan closed, much of the memorabilia ended up in a storage locker, which was later sold at public auction.

Bidding closes Feb. 7. For more information on the winter auction, go to www.goldinauctions.com
