It’s a pretty sure bet that when Seth Meyers was honing his comedy chops in Chicago many years ago, the long-time “Saturday Night Live” writer and star never envisioned himself on the cover of Time magazine. Or maybe he did. In any case, he’s there now.

In an interview with Time’s James Poniewozik for the publication’s first issue of 2014, Meyers’ friends and colleagues — including Amy Poehler and SNL boss Lorne Michaels (who also helms “Late Night” and Jimmy Fallon’s “Tonight Show”) — sound off about his late night hosting qualifications (he’ll take over for Fallon at 11:35 p.m. Feb. 24 when Fallon assumes the “Tonight Show” mantle) and his comedy skills in general.

“He enjoys bringing the best out of people,” Poehler says in the article. “Maybe it’s his improv training, but he really knows how to make other people look good.”
