Einstein Bros. Bagels kicked of the new year with a new “Smart Choices” menu of lighter breakfast and lunch offerings.

The menu is built around the company’s new “Thintasic Bagels,” which the company says tastes the same as its regular bagels but have 35 percent fewer calories. The new bagels come in three flavors: plain, whole wheat and everything.

Participating Einstein Bros. are running a social media promotion allowing guests to download a coupon for a free Thintastic Bagel and Shmear redeemable in restaurants Jan. 15.

Einstein Bros. is owned by Einstein Noah Restaurant Group Inc., which operates, franchises and licenses locations under the Einstein Bros., Noah’s New York Bagels and Manhattan Bagel® brands. The company has more than 840 restaurants in 41 states and the District of Columbia.
