Madonna's Instagram of teen son stirs fury

No question, Madonna is no stranger to controversy, but the superstar thinks the social media firestorm — over the Instagram photo she posted of her 13-year-old son holding a gin bottle on New Year’s Eve — is overblown.

While the entertainer insists Rocco Ritchie was not drinking — the overwhelming number of posts online seem not to believe her. Most question both Madonna’s thinking in posting the photo — and how likely it was Rocco did not imbibe.

Madonna insisted Rocco and is buddies in the shot “were just having fun,” but the photo’s caption read, “The party has just begun! Bring it! 2014.”

The actress and singer and her children spent the holidays in Switzerland, where the drinking age is 16.

Rocco’s father, British director Guy Ritchie, has yet to comment on the incident.
