White Sox infield prospect Carlos Sanchez has been named the Rookie of the Year for the Venezuelan Winter League.

Sanchez, a switch-hitting middle infielder, played in 58 games with Tiburones de La Guaira, batting .358 with 10 doubles, four triples, a home run over 221 at-bats. He had 31 RBI, 48 runs scored, a .428 on-base percentage and 30 walks.

Considered one of the Sox’ top prospects after he batted .321 between three minor-league levels in 2012, Sanchez batted .241 for AAA Charlotte in 2013 and fell out of Baseball America’s ranking of the Sox’ top ten prospects.
