Man shot in Uptown parking lot

A man was shot Tuesday morning in a parking lot in the Uptown neighborhood on the North Side.

The victim, thought to be in his 50s, was shot in the head in a parking lot in the 1000 block of West Wilson Avenue about 9:45 a.m., police News Affairs Officer Michael Sullivan said.

He was taken in serious condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Sullivan said.

46th Ward Ald. James Cappleman tweeted about the shooting at Broadway and Wilson: “Per Commander, does not appear gang-related. Have camera footage. Investigation ongoing.”

Area North detectives are investigating.
