A woman was shot multiple times while driving early Sunday in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The 28-year-old woman was driving an SUV in the 900 block of North Kedzie Avenue at 12:30 a.m. when someone in a dark-colored SUV pulled up alongside her and opened fire, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.

The woman was shot in the head, chest and back and taken in critical condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, Alfaro said.

A male passenger in the SUV with the woman was not injured, Alfaro said.

No one is in custody as Area North detectives investigate.
