Boy, 12, shot in Altgeld Gardens

A 12-year-old boy was shot Thursday night in the Altgeld Gardens neighborhood on the Far South Side.

The boy was shot in the leg about 8:45 p.m. after he walked past two males in the 13100 block of South Corliss Avenue and then heard shots and felt pain, said police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was listed in “stable” condition, Greer said.

No one is in custody as Area South detectives investigate.
