The original John Barleycorn bar in Lincoln Park will close next month. Owner Sam Sanchez has sold the building that’s housed the tavern since 1963 at 658 W. Belden St., chicagorealestatedaily.com reports. The bar’s sales declined after the nearby Children’s Memorial hospital moved to Streeterville.

Sanchez, president of SamCo Enterprises Inc., has scouted for a smaller location downtown, the Chicago Tribune reported.

The Barleycorns in River North and Wrigleyville will remain open.
